Dwelling on what you did in the past is not going to change your future.
This past Saturday, during my wife Maria and my weekly tennis lesson, our coach Rob said, “…once you hit your shot, you can’t concern yourself with ‘that’ shot…you must be prepared for the return shot…” I use to (and still do at times) get very frustrated in the middle of my coaching lessons and while playing a match when I hit a bad shot. My secret for becoming better was to do just that, focus on the next shot; I couldn’t change the last one. My energy HAD to be on improvement – and it works.
You’re approaching one full month into your new year. If you’re like most, you have some things to work on and now is the time to channel your energy on building something you can be proud of, whether it be your health, your business, your savings, your relationships – start now.
Dwelling on what you did in the past is not going to change your future. Sure we learn from those mistakes but focusing your energy and attention there will certainly take you eye off of what you should be focusing on to help mold your future.
